In 2019 America time is a precious commodity, if not the most precious. In this modern age everything is built to go. Family dinners and saying grace are a thing of the past. We have placed our value in drive through windows, cell phone’s with built in internet, 24 hour news cycles, on demand mobile entertainment streaming, and fast food. There’s practically nothing you can do at home that you can’t now do on the go. What impact will this age of unsettling have on humanity? This is the defining question that the song “Times Up” poses. We have placed a priority on convenience and somehow we seem vaguely unaware of the sacrifices we have made in doing so.

The lyrics in “Time’s Up” provide a simple yet profound reflection of our own mortality and brevity in the world. There is an old cliche’d saying “stop and smell the roses.” It’s a call to action to stop and enjoy the simple things in life. Problem is without the ‘stop’ many people miss out on anything worth of value or meaning. In the second verse Chris Cosby sings “at the turn of the century, there’s a naked truth that we can’t define, yet so many of us have fallen.” We are not ignorant of our place in the world, and in fact are the only species on the planet that is aware of our own mortality. This knowledge unavoidably has an impact on the way that we go about our lives and ultimately could be used for our benefit instead of our detriment if we wanted it to. Heartracer’s new single is much like a piece of gold that is dipped in chocolate and then covered with sprinkles. On the outside the bright colors and synth’s entice you. Once you take your first bite you taste the silky synth magic and only then if you stay a little while you will find the ultimate reward. The essence of the lyrics and the message that lay underneath.

Memories and Comeback Kid were my first introduction to this band. From then on - I've always gone to the Midnight for easy listening. Waiting for a bus - Standing in line - Going grocery shopping and pretty much everywhere and anywhere. You can listen to this track over and over again and I feel like it doesn't get old. solstra
